The newest trail in the national lakeshore is a birder's paradise. Just a short stroll to an accessible observation platform provides a great view of this recently restored wetland. Wading birds like herons and egrets and songbirds such as warblers and red-winged blackbirds are again abundant. During migration periods, see flocks of ducks and geese. Bring binoculars or a spotting scope for the best views.
