About

The Schoolhouse Shop is a retail destination point department store contiguous to the Indiana Dunes National Park. In 1886 it originally was a Schoolhouse, but now has several additions which house 12 departments including Dune Clothiers featuring better comfortable apparel and accessories for women and men. Originally it was an Italianate brick schoolhouse made featuring 12' ceilings and surrounded with charming and serene landscaping nestled on 2 1/2 acres. Known as the "Shopping Tradition in the Indiana Dunes" also featured are tourist mementos, gourmet foods in The Magic Pantry, gifts, flower shop (Lake Effect Florals), candies, fine art, cards, and fun toys, and games. You'll need more than one hour to see everything. Weather permitting, one can enjoy its Patio Plate Lunch and experience the beauty of surrounding nature and soothing sounds of birds on the patio. Closed every Tuesday and the entire month of February.
