Getting Here by Road
The Indiana Dunes Area is well served by major highways including I-65, I-80, I-90 and I-94 as well as the Indiana Toll Road, I-80/90, U.S. Highway 20 and Indiana State Highway 12. Check out our

By car we are:
- One hour west of South Bend
- Three hours southeast of Milwaukee
- Three hours north of Indianapolis
- Three and one half hours west of Toledo
- Four hours southwest of Detroit
- Five hours west of Cleveland
- One hour southeast of Chicago
Getting Here by Air
Midway International Airport and O’Hare International Airport are about an hour away in Chicago. These two international hubs are serviced by most of the major airlines in the world. The Chicago Department of Aviation portal provides traveler information for both airports.
South Bend Regional Airport, an hour to the west of Dunes Country, sees about 50 arrivals and departures a day from several US cities.
If you’ve got your own plane, Porter County Municipal Airport offers the ultimate in convenience, is open 365 days a year and has no landing fees.
Getting Here by Bus
Let someone else do the driving, leaving you free to sightsee and minimizing your carbon imprint.Greyhound and Coach USA Bus Lines both run regular service from the major centers around us.
Getting Here by Rail
The last interurban electric rail, the South Shore Line from Chicago runs every hour or so offering multiple stops near the National Park on weekdays, holidays and weekends.
